About Us

In northern central Texas nestled in the midst of the Fairy mountain range you will find White Stone Ranch owned by Darrell & Angela Bivens.

Our love for the country life was embedded in our hearts at birth. Angela was born in Northern California on a registered Hereford Ranch and Darrell spent much of his early years in the country in various towns in Southeast Texas. Although our careers forced us into the big city we always dreamt of spending our golden years on a peaceful ranch that offered us all the activities we had sought out on yearly vacations in an attempt to escape the daily grind of Houston.

Our adventure began with the unexpected purchase of a Texas Longhorn Heifer at a fundraising event for the Longhorn Project At Johnson Space Center. This young heifer, “Kettles Ginger Snap”, blew us away with continued win after win, including numerous grand championships back to back, futurity wins and two of our most proud moments, the high point female at the 2021 Millennium and first place again in the 2022.

The realization that Ginger Snap would eventually be aging out of the show circuit, drove us to search for property for not only her forever home, but ours as well. White Stone Ranch was established in 2019 and in the Fall of 2022 we sold our family business after 30 years and moved to full time ranching in January 2023 with a plan to continue adding to the legacy of the  
Texas Longhorn breed through Ginger Snap’s prodigy. We feel very blessed to have been able to start our herd right out of the gate with one of the very top female champions in the industry. Being more of a boutique herd enables us to focus on the top bloodlines in the breed. Along with our longhorn herd, we also raise classic Herefords, Beef-masters and Barbados Blackbelly Sheep. Arriving a little late to the Ranching game, has not stopped us from jumping in feet first. We are already cutting & bailing our own hay, and this past year we started entering our Longhorns on the show circuit.

Although our journey is just beginning, we can not thank all the knowledgable breeders that have graciously answered our list of 20 plus questions at every opportunity we have had to chat. Those visits have been invaluable. After only a few months of waking up to the beautiful sunrises and then glancing down at the herd peacefully grazing in the fields we feel this is what God’s plan has been for us all along. Although it’s hard work, we have not looked back to our corporate America life.

We welcome you to White Stone Ranch. While here do some hiking through our caverns, check out the beautiful carved outcroppings with 120’ of change in elevations, do some 4-wheeling, shoot a few rounds with our Gatling Gun, take some pictures with beautiful longhorns and in the evenings you can gaze at all the stars picking out your favorite constellations then retreat to your comfy bed in the bunkhouse!
